Paddling Demo Pool

Presented by Sova Health - Martinsville

Nervous about getting out on the Smith River? Relax! The Paddling Demo Pool will offer inexperienced boaters the opportunity to feel what it is like to get on a kayak, while having the security of a shallow pool beneath them, instead of the intimidation of the depth of a river. This will allow many first-timers to get a feel for the basic of paddling and maneuvering through water.

Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Casting Pool

Presented by Angler's Choice

Try your hand at casting a fly rod and bait casting at our 40-foot long casting pool. You can meet anglers from Smith River Trout UnlimitedCasting For Recovery and the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries and learn tips from all of them.

The casting pool doesn't have fish but it does have plenty of targets so that you can test your aiming skills.

Time: 9 am - 4 pm

Kids Cycle Station

Presented by Center for Pediatric Therapies

In this activity area, children ages 12 and under can get some one-on-one instruction
from members of the Henry County Bike Club and bike patrol officers from
the Martinsville Police Department Bike Unit.

More advanced young riders can challenge themselves to a mini biking course
complete with obstacles and small ramps.

Youth bikes and helmets will be provided for use by the YMCA's Mobile Bike Barn.

Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
