DESCRIPTION:Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Senior Manager of Provenance Research Karen Daly will discuss art looted during World War II on Thursday\, Sept. 24\, at Piedmont Arts. A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m.\, and the talk will begin at 7 p.m. \nIssues of looted art and restitution\, particularly art misappropriated during World War II\, remain prevalent in art news coverage and important concerns for museums worldwide. \nThis talk provides a historical overview of art looting\, the museum community’s response\, how recovery and restitution efforts have evolved to the present day\, and a discussion of VMFA’s experiences resolving two art restitution claims. \nThis event is free and open to the public.
