Shared by counties of Franklin, Henry and Patrick, the 3,000-acre reservoir features 100 miles of  undeveloped shorelines, a marina, tournament fishing dock, nine boat launches, eight campgrounds, six beaches, birding and wildlife trails and more.

The lake has a multitude of recreational opportunities from swimming, boating, camping, fishing, hiking and more, that will help make the experiences of all outdoor enthusiasts memorable.

Within Franklin County's lake boundaries, enjoy activities at Salthouse Branch, Horseshoe Point, Twin Ridge, Ryan's Branch and Jamison Mill Parks. Philpott Lake is convenient to Highway 220, the Blue Ridge Parkway and a number of towns and cities including Rocky Mount and Martinsville. Ideally located in the center of Philpott Lake, is a customized tournament facility featuring a large T-shaped mooring dock,  a small courtesy dock, launch/receive dock, 2-lane boat ramp, restrooms, shelters with picnic tables and parking for up to 80 vehicles with boat trailers.
