Jay Hudson is a third generation beekeeper with 16 years of experience in beekeeping. In this presentation, Jay will review a brief history of the art of beekeeping, the importance of honeybees in our ecosystem, the roles of bees within the colony, the components of a beehive, and the challenges beekeepers face today. The mountains in both Henry and Patrick Counties are part of a unique honey production region and there will be a couple of varieties of honey from this area for tasting! This program, which is free and open to the public, will be Tuesday, October 14 at 10:30am and will be held in the Susan L. Adkins Memorial Meeting Room.
