Make Some Noise: Open Mic Series

The Make Some Noise: Open Mic Series returns for their fall event! Hosted by local musician Jake Earles, the community is invited to come to Piedmont Arts for this free event. Grab the mic and share your original songs, stories, poems, spoken word, comedy, or creations of any other genre. This is your event to share your voice and shine. Free admission, cash bar available.
Swing Dance Party with Bob Peckman Jazz Band
Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 PM. $20 general admission.
Put on your dancing shoes and join Piedmont Arts for a Swing Dance Party! This event will feature live jazz music by The Bob Peckman Jazz Band from Roanoke, Va. Peckman and his band are ready to get you moving with their unique and upbeat sound. With surprise appearances from the amazing choreographers and coaches for Dancing for the Arts, this is a party you won’t want to miss.
Fine Arts and Flowers – Day Trip to the VMFA, Thursday, Oct. 24. $105 per person. Join Piedmont Arts for a day trip to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to view Fine Arts & Flowers. This spectacular museum-wide exhibition features floral designs inspired by works of art in museum permanent collection created by garden and ikebana clubs. This event includes:
• Roundtrip transportation to VMFA from Piedmont Arts
• Private tour of Fine Arts & Flowers with a VMFA curator
• Admission to the Marble Hall Luncheon and Fashion Show
• Time for self-guided exploration of the galleries

Bob Ross Painting Class

Learn Bob Ross’s famous painting technique with certified instructor Naomi Hodge-Muse. Students should bring a roll of paper towels, all other supplies provided. Advanced registration required. Join Piedmont Arts for dinner and a lecture by the incomparable humorist and scholar Dr. Elliot Engel. Catered dinner begins at 6 p.m. Lecture begins at 7 p.m. Sponsored by King’s Grant. Many scholars consider Leonardo Da Vinci to be the greatest artistic genius in the history of Western Civilization. He even tackles the universal mystery of Mona Lisa’s smile.
