Step back into the elegance and charm of Martinsville’s past during Historic Garden Week on Wednesday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Martinsville. Once home to some of the country’s wealthiest residents per capita, Martinsville was known in the mid-1900s as a leader in fashion and luxury. This year’s tour highlights homes and gardens from that era, including properties once owned by the proprietors of Globman’s, an iconic department store that opened in 1915 and became a symbol of Martinsville’s prosperity and style.
Tour headquarters will be located at the Martinsville-Henry County Heritage Museum, a Garden Club of Virginia restoration site that recently completed a 13,000-square-foot addition featuring rare and valuable antiques. Visitors can also enjoy special activities at the museum, including formal table-setting demonstrations, a marketplace, and opportunities to create flower arrangements to take home.
Your ticket includes admission to four tour stops: 928 Mulberry Road, 1 Dan-Lee Terrace, 9 Dan-Lee Terrace, and the Martinsville-Henry County Heritage Museum. A shuttle will be available on Dan-Lee Terrace between the cul-de-sac and the featured properties for easy access to the homes.
Advance tickets are $25, day-of tickets are $35, youth tickets (ages 5–17) are $15, and children under 5 are free with an adult. Lunch will also be available at Chatmoss Country Club with prepaid reservations.
