Sounds on the Square postponed to Sept. 19; Sunday Lectures; and a Plant Swap

September 4, 2026

Sounds on the Square postponed until better weather

The Rosebud Band is hot — but Friday’s weather is forecast to be, also! That’s why their Sounds on the Square performance originally scheduled for Sept. 4 has been postponed to Saturday, Sept. 19 — when we should be able to expect much more pleasant weather for socializing and dancing. Admission to the outdoor concert will be free, and admission to the museum that day will be half-price.
Bring a blanket or chairs, or sit on chairs we’ll have set out by 6 p.m. Food and drink will be sold. The band will start performing at 7 p.m.

The Plant Swap is an independent event, with no charge to attendees. It is not a Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society event, and the organizers appreciate the Historical Society allowing the use of the courtyard for the Plant Swap. While you are at the Plant Swap, be sure to visit the museum and learn about the Historical Society.
