Spencer-Penn in September

Music Night - Friday, September 8th.  Local dance band, The Smith River Ramblers, will play in Alumni Hall. Gate opens at 5 pm with the band starting at 6:15 p.m. Admission is a $5 CASH donation. Come enjoy some great mountain music and dancing! Concessions, including our ever-popular Spencer Penn hotdogs, will be sold.

Barn Quilt - Sunday, September 10th from 1 to 5 pm. All supplies are provided.

MHC is for Book Lovers Trivia and Dinner with Authors/Silent Auction - Friday, Sept.15
from 6-8pm. $30 adults/$20 children. Members receive a $5 discount.

MHC is for Book Lovers Bookfest - Saturday, September 16 from 11am to 3pm. Come and meet amazing authors, like Nancy Naigle, enjoy vendors, live music, and a Carnival for the kids! Food trucks will be on site, including Ann's Kitchen and Palumbo's. While you're here, grab some stew to take home from the Ruritans. Admission is free!

Candidate Forum - Sunday, September 17, at 3pm. Join us for our Henry County Candidate Forum highlighting the 2023 local candidates for office. Delegate Les Adams will be the moderator.  This event is free and open to the public. Candidates will take turn taking the stage with the opportunity to share who they are and answer a few questions provided by the moderator. Public questions may be provided in advance by emailing spc.susan@yahoo.com.

Cuties with Cupcakes Baking and Decorating Class for Kids - Saturday, September 23rd at 9 a.m.  Students will learn how to create tasty and cute cupcakes from start to finish, including general baking safety. This class is perfect for youth 8 and up and will be taught by instructor Monica Hughes of Olivia's Goodie Shop
$10/members and $15/non-members and all supplies are included.

Computer Basics -  Tuesday, September 26th and October 3rd, 6pm to 8pm
This two part class will take place on two Tuesdays.  Students will learn the basics of operating a computer, using search engines, composing emails with attachments, and more! Each participant is welcome to bring their own laptop, but laptops will be provided for use in the class.  Students who have specific questions or needs may submit those when registering by calling the Centre at (276) 957-5757 or coming by in person during normal office hours. Cost is $15/members and $20/non-members.
Registrations and payments are due by Friday, September 22nd.

Zumba! - New days, Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm.  Instructor, Body by Jenise, will be offering a discounted $60 for the entire month of September.  Drop-in price is $10.
