Some elders get very limited exercise that may not always address improving functional strength, sta- bility and balance. A regular practice of yoga poses, breathing exercises and meditation can be incredibly beneficial for your overall wellbeing and can help your body naturally detoxify itself. Yoga stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems, which can help to flush out toxins and waste products from the body. Specific yoga poses, such as twists and inversions, can also help to stimulate the internal organs and promote detoxification. This workshop will focus on which of the yoga practices we can use to help us detox our body allowing us to feel more vibrant and alive! —All Levels.

Many conditions can cause pain in the neck and shoulder area. Our modern day technology with computer screens and keyboards can challenge our posture and create forward slumped shoulders and a forward head, which is a common cause of neck tension. Another common cause of shoulder pain and neck pain is injury to the soft tissues including the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. This can occur from whiplash or other injury to these areas. Degenerative arthritis of the spine in the neck can pinch nerves that can cause both neck pain and shoulder pain. Degenerative disc disease in the neck can cause localized neck pain. Yoga gives us the tools we need to help our neck issues. Physically, yoga postures help us to strengthen and develop flexibility in the muscles supporting the neck and shoulders. Better alignment of the cervical spine can be cultivated, creating a more natural curve. Also, Just Breathe Yoga and Bodywork has the added benefit of The Great Yoga Wall TM that allows the cervical spine to benefit from decompression. —All Levels.
