Goose Point Park at Philpott Lake

Goose Point Park is nestled on the shores of Philpott Lake that is overflowing in scenic and natural beauty. Goose Point has spectular views of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. The lake offers a variety of recreational opportunities from swimming, boating, hunting, fishing and hiking. The clear water and natural shoreline make Philpott a unique place for visitors.

Nature lovers can enjoy watching the abundance of wildlife throughout the area such as deer, turkeys, raccoons, squirrels, songbirds and waterfowl. For the fishing enthusiasts can enjoy fishing for large and smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, walleye and catfish.

The Goose Point Interpretative Walk Way is a 2/10 mile one-way trail within Goose Point Park. The first half of the trail consists of a concrete walkway. You will continue your walk along a natural surface trail beyond the fishing pier and amphitheater. There are 21 points of interest along the trail identified with numbered markers which correspond to interpretative information in the trail guide.

Goose Point offers camping with electric hookups year round.

  • Two vehicles per campsite ($5/day for each extra)
  • Park closes at 10 pm
  • Alcohol is prohibited
