Alison Bailey Parker Memorial Scholarship Reaches Endowed Status

With the generous donations from 164 individual donors, the Alison Bailey Parker Memorial Scholarship through the Patrick Henry Community College Foundation has surpassed the $25,000 goal needed to endow the scholarship and currently totals $40,068. This includes a $25,018 donation from the Jeffrey W. Glassheim Family Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.

“We are extremely grateful to those who have donated to honor the memory of Alison,” said Christopher Parker, executive director of the PHCC Foundation. “With the help of those who donated and the Glassheim family, we have been able to endow this scholarship so it will continue forever.”

Donations to the Alison Bailey Parker Memorial Scholarship are still encouraged. “With more donations, this scholarship will be able to have a larger impact on the lives of students who enter the Media Design and Production program, which was Alison’s field of work,” explained Parker. “We will continue to encourage individuals to donate in Alison’s memory and we hope to see it continue to grow for years to come.”

Dr. Jeff Glassheim made the donation to the Alison Bailey Parker Memorial Scholarship in memory of his “beloved Aunt Betsy and his only brother who he lost in 2004 at age 38.” He also acknowledges his grandfather, Milton Deitch, who died in 1998 at the age of 92.

Alison Bailey Parker was a 2009 graduate of PHCC with an associate of arts and sciences degree through the Piedmont Governor’s School for Math, Science and Technology and 2015 PHCC Distinguished Alumni award winner.
