Auditions for The Color Purple start May 23rd

Auditions for the Patriot Players’ next performance, The Color Purple, are:

• Monday, May 23; 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
• Wednesday, May 25; 6 p.m.  – 9 p.m.
• Saturday, May 28; 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

All auditions are held in the Walker Theatre at Patrick Henry Community College. To schedule an audition time, email phccpatriotplayers@patrickhenry.edu. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Actors must be over eight years of age to audition.  Those auditioning should prepare 16-32 bars of song or roughly one verse and one chorus. Performers can sing a cappella or bring an MP3 instrumental track. An accompanist will not be provided. Casting strong gospel-style or soulful performers of African-American ethnicity.

Performance dates are July 28-30 and August 4-7.  The Patriot Players are PHCC’s theater troupe which offers students and community members the opportunity to gain onstage experience while learning about the theater profession.

Based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel (and the popular 1985 Steven Spielberg film), The Color Purple is a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love, and a celebration of life.
