Brass 5 Brings Sounds of the Big Bands and More to Piedmont Arts

Brass 5 will perform Sounds of the Big Bands and Beyond, featuring music by the best artists of the big band era and more, on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Piedmont Arts.

A reception will be held at 6:30 pm. The performance will begin at 7 pm.

Sounds of the Big Bands and Beyond will feature the music of big band greats Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Les Brown, Arty Shaw, Glenn Miller, Woody Herman and more. But, the list doesn't stop there. The group will kick up its performance a notch by adding to the list of featured band leaders and performers. Hear classics by Frank Sinatra, along with his friends Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., in this special “Rat Pack Edition” performance.

Brass 5 is one of America’s most successful educational ensembles. They have been an active part of the mid-Atlantic arts scene for 29 years. The group performs regularly in local schools as part of Piedmont Arts’ educational outreach program. Offering a vast repertoire from classical to swing, jazz and rock, they easily bring something for everyone. Brass 5’s performances have been featured on numerous television and public radio programs and have been broadcast live on National Public Radio.

Tickets to Brass 5: Sounds of the Big Bands and Beyond are $20 for general admission and $10 for students in grades K–12. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts and PiedmontArts.org.
