It’s barbecue, beer and…bugs? On Friday, August 14 from 5 to 9 p.m., the Virginia Museum of Natural History is hosting its first ever summer cookout during the inaugural “Bugs, Beer & BBQ” fundraising event sponsored by Bud Light. The cookout will feature a barbecue dinner, a variety of beers and other beverages, live music by Tenured Soul, as well as a cornhole tournament, with trophies awarded to the top 3 teams. Tickets to the event are only $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Proceeds from the event will fund museum education programs, research projects, and exhibit galleries. Minimum age to attend “Bugs, Beer & BBQ” is 21.

Tickets include a barbecue dinner provided by Mtn ‘ Jax Restaurant & Pub. The dinner includes barbecue pork, baked beans, coleslaw and rolls. Ticket holders can get dinner at any time throughout the event. A variety of beer will also be available, as well as non-alcoholic beverages.
Bugs, Beer & BBQ Cornhole Tournament!
Teams of two will compete for museum prizes during the cornhole tournament, with trophies awarded to the top 3 teams. Registration for the cornhole tournament takes place at the time of ticket purchase, which can be done by visiting the museum’s box office, or ordering online today!
Live Music by Tenured Soul!
Live music will be provided by the band, Tenured Soul. The soulful, acoustic act offers a blend of classic blues and rock, along with a mix of today’s popular rock and country hits.
