Kid's Area- Rooster Walk
Thursday May 26, 2016
What do you do in your backyard...have adventures to far-away lands? Make science projects that explode everywhere? Examine bugs with your magnifying glass, or blow bubbles until you can't exhale anymore? In Rooster Walk's backyard we do all of that and more! Our goal is to have fun while teaching everyone (young and old) the importance of using and reusing items around the house. The craft tables will have all of the paint, glitter, tie-dye, tape, glue and origami shapes you can handle. All workshops will be led by local and regional professionals and are open to kids of all ages. If you're a mother of an infant there will be a quiet area for relaxation, nursing and changing diapers.
Our kid's area, called The Kids' Coop, is open from Noon to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday.
We are so glad that you are comfortable bringing your entire family to RW! Our festival family strives to make everything family-friendly, particularly the Kid's Coop. Our staff is ready to help you and your young ones explore creativity through crafts, bubbles, treasure hunts, music and more. That said, we do not provide drop-off childcare to anyone. We ask you to stay with your child at all times. Unattended children will be given espressos and puppies that have not been house trained.
The Spot is for youth ages 12 and up and is open Thursday-Sunday. We will be playing card games, making jewelry, having jam sessions, doing creative writing workshops and playing disc golf. Come hang out.
H2O Tie Dye will be doing free tie dye workshops; sign-up in advance in the Kids' Coop. T-shirt and dye are included!
SLIP 'N' SLIDE!
We have an epic downhill slip'n'slide open noon-3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All ages are welcome. Don't forget you water jams and a towel!
YOGA FOR LITTLES
Melissa Brown from Triunity Healing will be leading a relaxing and playful yoga session for all ages at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This will take place in the Kids' Coop. Please bring a mat, towel, or something to lay on. If you have a toddler, parents are encouraged to participate.
It's back! Bring your instruments if you have 'em. If not, stop by the Kids' Coop Craft Tent and make one! Don't forget your costumes: masks, boas, capes and fairy wings are a great start! We will be dancing to the beat of our drums throughout Pop's Farm on Saturday afternoon.
ONCE UPON A BLUE RIDGE THEATER
Once Upon a Blue Ridge Theater out of Meadows of Dan, VA will be with us all weekend long for interactive theater workshops Friday and Saturday. Peter Holland and his crew have been working with kids for many years but we are welcoming him for the first time. Don't miss out on an interactive version of Peter Pan, where audience members will become pirates, lost children and fairies. All costumes provided!
Little Planets provide an eco-friendly baby care area! We'll have a baby changing station stocked with eco-friendly diapers and wipes, a nursing nook and a small-baby safe place.
