Grammy-Winning Stephane Wrembel To Play Rives

Stephane Wrembel has been called "a revelation," by Rolling Stone Magazine, "intense and full of charisma" by the New York Times and "one of the best guitars players I've ever seen," by a writer for Relix Magazine.

On Friday night, the French-born jazz guitarist and Grammy winner will call the stage of the Rives Theatre his home for a few short hours.

Stephane Wrembel & His Band will take the stage around 9:15 p.m., after an 8:30 p.m. opening set by Dr. Z & the Riff Raff, a band led by Martinsville doctor Will Zimmer. Tickets to the show, which is part of the Live at the Rives concert series, will cost $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

Wrembel and his band opened for Dave Matthews' Band lead guitarist Tim Reynolds at a Rives Theatre concert on March 15th. It was the first time in the theatre's brief history as a live music venue that the opening band received a full, standing ovation. His band, which also features a rhythm guitarist, drummer and upright bass player, then returned to the area for the fifth annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival in May.
