Historical Society to Sponsor Uptown First Friday

The Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society will sponsor Uptown First Friday on Friday, June 3, 2022, 5:00-9:00 P.M., on the Historical Henry County Courthouse Plaza.

Open Mic will be hosted by Kat & Dennis Calfee with “Above the Fray.” Individuals and groups are invited to sing, play an instrument, read a poem, perform magic, or share other talents.

Admission is free. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Food and a cash bar will be available – cash only – beginning at 5:00 P.M with Scuffle Hill Brewing Company and Hugo’s Sports Bar & Restaurant. Bring your friends and family for an evening of fun and entertainment. All ages are welcome to attend and participate. Dogs are welcome if accompanied by responsible owners.

John Phillips, President, Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society, stated, “Uptown First Friday provides a small, intimate setting for performers and audience and revives the historical significance of courthouses serving as places to gather socially. Last year’s inaugural season was very successful with various music genres and cultural and generational inclusion.”
