Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Hotel de Ville to Rock the Rives on Friday!

Holy Ghost Tent Revival, a group that NPR described as "a soul-rock horn band that recalls '60s and '70s classic-rock influences such as The Band and The Flying Burrito Brothers," will headline the Rives Theatre’s annual day after Thanksgiving show on Friday night. Local Grateful Dead tribute band Hotel de Ville will join HGTR on the bill.

Tickets for the concert cost $8 in advance from Woodall’s Music, the Daily Grind or online HERE. Tickets will be available on Friday night for $10 each at the doors of the theatre. Season passes will not be accepted for concert.

A nationally touring band based in Greensboro, N.C., HGTR made their Rives debut in May of this year.

“We got a fantastic response from the audience at Holy Ghost’s May concert,” said Dean Johnston, president of the nonprofit group Arts at the Rives Theatre (ART). “Before the band was even off the stage that night, folks were asking us when we were going to bring them back. This is a group that puts on a fun, horn-driven rock show similar to Major & The Monbacks. We’re really excited about this one. It’s gonna be a fun night in uptown Martinsville.”

HGTR features two electric guitars, an electric bass, drums, keys, trombone and trumpet. The band, which has also performed at numerous major festivals across the country including Floydfest, Shakori Hills, Belle Chere, Bristol Rhythm & Roots and Wakarusa, is well known for its strong vocals and high harmonies.

Hotel de Ville has a devoted regional following for their dedication to recreating the live Grateful Dead experience, complete with dual drummers. They have performed locally at the Rives, Rooster Walk and Front Porch Fest, among others. The band is comprised of skilled musicians from Martinsville, Stuart, Franklin County and surrounding areas.

Doors to the theatre will open at 8 p.m., with Hotel de Ville starting at  8:30 p.m.
