Martinsville Speedway Toy Drive Offers Something For All Kids

The Martinsville Speedway Toy Drive is going to make a lot of kids happy … including some big kids.

This is the 18th year for the toy drive and as always, the goal is to enrich Christmas for as many children as possible in Martinsville and Henry County. There is a different route to that goal this year with several online auctions of Martinsville Speedway race weekend packages serving as the key fundraiser.

The two-week campaign will culminate on Saturday, December 13 with a toy collection at the Martinsville Lowe’s between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Santa will make an appearance on December 13. The Martinsville Speedway pace car and a mock victory lane will be available for photos.

The auctions, which started last week on eBay and will run through December 12, give the fundraiser national appeal, attracting Martinsville Speedway and NASCAR fans from coast-to-coast. All proceeds will benefit Grace Network, an association of more than 100 churches in the Martinsville and Henry County area, to help families in need at Christmas.

The online auctions will allow the Grace Network to have more money to shop for families and buy specific items needed.

Fans will still be able to drive their personal cars around the historic Martinsville Speedway as part of the toy drive, but this year the window of opportunity is much larger. The drive-arounds will run through Dec. 12, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Five laps around the track will be offered for the donation of a new, unwrapped toy or a $10 donation.
