Mayhew Joins EDC Staff

The Martinsville-Henry County EDC's Tourism Division is pleased to announce addition of Chloe Mayhew to their staff as the Group Sales Coordinator for the Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center. Mayhew is a lifelong resident of Ridgeway, a 2012 graduate of Patrick Henry Community College and a 2014 honor graduate of Averett University. Her primary duties include soliciting conferences and bus tours in order to grow the local area hotel, restaurant and retail economic base and developing relationships with group tour leaders and staff at area meeting and event venues.

According to Jennifer Doss, Director of Tourism, "The group tour market for Martinsville-Henry County is growing as we have more groups expressing interest in specialized tours than we have in the past." She added that Mayhew will take the lead in coordinating details for tours that are already scheduled and work to recruit additional visits to the area. Mayhew is currently working with group leaders from Danville, Rocky Mount, Richmond, Winston Salem and Canada, just to name a few.

Mayhew explained that "By giving visitors a sampler of our community through a guided group tour, we anticipate that they will want to come back on their own to explore the area more later on." Tour themes offered to groups include: "A Taste of MHC," "From Moonshine to Motorsports," MARTinsville Arts," and "Explore MHC." Additional tour themes will be added as the program grows, Mayhew added.

In addition to coordinating group travel to the area, Mayhew also serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Martinsville-Henry County Visitor Center. She trains and oversees students and residents that have an expressed interest in becoming Tourism Ambassadors for the Martinsville-Henry County area. For more information on becoming a Tourism Ambassador or scheduling a group tour, Mayhew can be contacted at 276.403.5948 or CMayhew@YesMartinsville.com.
