Meet a Martinsville Insider: Carrie Denny, Executive Director of the historic Spencer-Penn Centre. Carrie spends her days at the special events center coordinating volunteers, organizing fundraisers, planning monthly music nights, and working with the event planners for the many weddings, reunions and conferences that take place there. Here are her insider tips for enjoying Martinsville-Henry County:

What is the best-kept secret in Martinsville-Henry County?

"All the shops and the museum on East Church Street* are such a treasure. Visitors to the area aren't aware of it, but it is the neatest place to park, walk, shop and enjoy what Martinsville-Henry County has to offer." 

What is the most interesting tidbit about Spencer-Penn Center?

"The Spencer-Penn Centre is supported 90% by volunteers." 

What are your top Martinsville-Henry County dining spots?

"We love to visit Rania'sWild Magnolia and Hugo's. Local owners, local food...doesn't get any better!" 

Where are your favorite places to shop in Martinsville-Henry County?

"I love to shop at Studio 107 and at Liberty Fair Mall. The small town atmosphere is so apparent; there is never an issue with parking or large crowds to maneuver through. Lately, we have also been enjoying shopping at the Community Storehouse."
