PHCC crowned the second Miss PHCC!

Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is pleased to announce that on Saturday, November 11, MacKenzie Lewis was crowned Miss PHCC 2018.

Lewis, 17, is the daughter of Steve and Tabatha Lewis and Berry and Cherie Whitlow. For her talent, Lewis tap danced to the song “Power” by Little Mix. For her platform, “Giving the Gift of Sight,” Lewis collects eye glasses and works with local organizations to provide eye exams for those who do not have the resources to get the eye care they need. 

On winning Miss PHCC 2018, Lewis responded, “I cannot wait to give back to my community!” 

As Miss PHCC 2018, Lewis receives nearly $35,000 dollars in scholarships to pursue her educational goals. She also receives multiple gift certificates from local sponsors to help her prepare for the Miss Virginia pageant. In June, Lewis advances to compete in the Miss Virginia Pageant where she will have the opportunity to earn even more scholarships. Cameryn Blair, the first runner-up, receives a $250 scholarship from the PHCC Foundation. Second runner up, Elizabeth Harris, receives $175 scholarship from the PHCC Foundation. The third runner up, Hannah Inman, receives $125 scholarship from the PHCC Foundation. 

A winner was also chosen for each portion of the competition. Hannah Inman won the Talent Award. Cameryn Blair received the Life and Fitness Award. JoAnna Wilson received the Eveningwear Award. Cameryn Blair, whose platform was “Ability Athletics” - creating a sports program for children with special needs, tied with MacKenzie Lewis for the Interview Award. Elizabeth Harris won the People’s Choice Award. Each category winner receives $100.
