Piedmont Arts Presents Roanoke Symphony Holiday Pops Concert Featuring ‘American Idol’ star Michael Lynche and the Smith River Singers

Celebrate the holidays with Piedmont Arts as Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and Chorus return to Martinsville for the museum’s annual Holiday Pops concert on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 7 pm at Martinsville High School Auditorium.

Celebrating 12 years of holiday magic, this year's production of the Symphony’s well-loved holiday concert will feature timeless classics and new holiday favorites, including a popular audience sing-a-long.

Martinsville’s own Smith River Singers and “American Idol” season nine finalist Michael Lynche will join the Symphony in ushering in holiday cheer.

Smith River Singers is a group of talented volunteer singers from Martinsville and Henry County, dedicated to enriching the cultural life of the community through artistic excellence in choral music performance. Under the direction of Dr. Pamela Randall, the choir brings free music to the community with winter and spring performances.

Lynche, known as “Big Mike” while winning over the hearts of the nation during his stint on “American Idol,” is a new breed of soul singer influenced by greats like Al Green, Luther Vandross, Sam Cooke and James Brown. Undeniable charisma and a voice soaked in soul put Lynche in a class all his own. This extraordinary vocal talent seamlessly fuses classic R&B, modern urban grooves and swoon-worthy vintage soul into a fresh, unique sound.

During the concert, Altrusa will collect donations of non-perishable goods for Grace Network’s food pantry.

Tickets to Piedmont Arts annual Roanoke Symphony Holiday Pops concert are $25 for reserved seats, $15 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are on sale now at Piedmont Arts, located at 215 Starling Ave., by calling 276.632.3221 or online at PiedmontArts.org.
