Rooster Walk announces early lineup, puts tickets on sale

Early-bird tickets are now available online for the eighth annual Rooster Walk Music & Arts Festival, scheduled to occur May 26-29, 2016 at Pop's Farm in Martinsville, Va.

The annual Memorial Day weekend event will feature live music from more than 40 bands of different genres, as well as performance art, crafts, food vendors, children's activities, craft beer, disc golf, the Tuff Strutter 5K and on-site camping. The early band lineup consists of Jeff Austin Band, Tab Benoit, Yarn, Major & the Monbacks, After Jack, Lizzy Ross, Sanctum Sully (Electric Reunion) and Left Hip Pocket. The festival headliners, as well as many other bands, will be announced in the coming weeks and months.

Some of the early-bird ticket options are limited in quantity and will be sold while supplies last. Other ticket types will increase in price on Jan. 1, 2016.

Rooster Walk Inc. is a 501c3 community nonprofit dedicated to promoting music, arts and education in Martinsville-Henry County. A portion of proceeds from the festival are donated to the Penn-Shank Memorial Endowment Scholarship Fund for Martinsville High School seniors, as well as the Band Instrument Donation & Repair Program for entry-level band programs in Martinsville and Henry County public schools.

The festival was founded in memory of two late Martinsville natives, Edwin "the Rooster" Penn and Walker Shank, both of whom passed away while in their mid-20s.
