September Festivals

September weekends are full of fun, especially if you love festivals!

The Annual Bassett Heritage Festival is set for Saturday, September 10th in downtown Bassett (near the historic Train Depot). Enjoy an afternoon parade, classic car show and kids play area. The festival will also showcase a variety of vendors and crafters with food, snow cones, popcorn, jewelry, flowers, gifts, crafts, baked goods, t-shirts and more.

The Annual Spencer Community Craft and Collectible Fair is set for Saturday, September 17th at the Spencer Penn Centre to compliment the Spencer Community Fair at the Spencer Ruritan Building. There will be craft vendors showcasing many different pieces from woodworking to jewelry. The Spencer Community Fair is known area wide for their lip smacking Brunswick Stew, so come hungry. Or, choose the fried chicken and homemade desserts. Live music is available in the afternoon, and an auction starts at 6:00 p.m. The Spencer Community Fair will be celebrating their 80th anniversary this year!

The Second Annual Wine by the River Festival is also set for Saturday, September 17th at the Smith River Sports Complex Festival Grounds.  Along with a variety of wineries, there will also be food and artisan vendors on site at the festival and a variety of live music will fill the air throughout the day. Six different wineries have registered to attend and participate including Martinsville-Henry County’s own Hamlet Vineyards and Preston Ridge Winery. Others include Bluetoad Hard Cider, Ramulose Ridge Vineyards, Stanburn Winery and West Wind Farm. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $25.00. Designated driver fee is $10.00.
