TGIF Concert Series Kicks Off Tonight

Martinsville Uptown welcomes back The Pizazz Band to kick off the 2013 TGIF Concert Series tonight!

The Pizazz Band is a high energy group that only has one objective when they hit the stage, and that is to make people want to get up and dance.  They pride themselves on getting everyone in the crowd involved by playing a very wide variety of Top 40 hits that will appeal to everyone that comes to see them.  The show might start with "Cupid Shuffle" and end with Hinder's "Lips of an Angel" with Big and Rich's "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" thrown in the middle.  Elvis and Michael Jackson even have a tendency to make an onstage appearance.  Pizazz is a must see group that shouldn't be missed.

TGIF is held at the Uptown Farmers' Market, 65 W. Main St, from 7:00pm to 10:30pm.  Admission at the gate is $5, and children 12 and under accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.  Advanced tickets are available at all local BB&T locations ~ Martinsville, Collinsville, Ridgeway, and Stanleytown.  These advanced tickets are $3 and are valid for one time admission to any of the six concerts.  Please no pets, skateboards, skates, or bikes allowed due to insurance liability.  Bring your lawn chairs and join us for an evening Uptown!

Local sponsors of the TGIF concerts make it possible for Martinsville Uptown to continue this popular event for the community.  The season sponsors for TGIF are Coors Light, Devils Backbone, Shop Local MHC, and Subway.  Thanks to our April event sponsors ~ BB&T and Southern Virginia Properties. Martinsville Uptown will sell Coors & Devils Backbone products.  The food sponsor will be Rock'n Grill. They will serve hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken and BBQ.  They will also have $3 kids' meals available.  So make sure to come hungry and thirsty!  There is also a jumpy castle provided as entertainment for the kids!  After the show, keep your admission wristband on and head over to Wild Magnolia where you can receive $2 off any regular menu item.

Martinsville Uptown coordinates the outdoor concerts to supplement their funding for the organization's revitalization efforts for Uptown Martinsville.  The event began in 1994 as a way to attract more people to the Uptown area.  If you are looking for a place that the whole family can have a great time, then TGIF at the Uptown Farmers' Market is the place, one Friday night a month from April through September.  The remaining schedule is as follows--I'm With the Band on May 24th, Paradox on June 28th, Broken Glass Band on July 26th, Stone Canyon on August 23rd, and Shame for Sydney on September 27th.
