TheaterWorks Auditions Scheduled

Auditions are scheduled on Saturday, August 3 between 11am  and 1pm and Sunday, August 4 between 1pm and 3pm in the Black Box Theatre for the TheatreWorks Community Players production of Lend Me a Tenor, a comedy by Ken Ludwig.    

Plot synopsis: A famous tenor known as "Il Stupendo" is to sing in the opera Otello, but chaos ensues when he receives a "Dear John" letter and accidentally takes a double dose of tranquilizers. What follows is a chain reaction of mistaken identity, farcical plot twists, and mayhem. The Broadway production won 3 Tony Awards and 4 Drama Desk Awards.

The following parts will be cast: (this is not a musical)

Henry Saunders -Opera's general manager. Often loses his temper

Max - Saunders' long-suffering assistant, who is forced to take Tito's place in the opera

Maggie Saunders - Saunders' daughter, and Max's girlfriend

Tito Merelli - The world's most renowned opera tenor, and notorious ladies' man

Maria - Tito's wife with an "Italian temper"

Diana- The opera's  seductive ingenue soprano

Julia - "grande damme" chairwoman of the Opera Guild

The Bellhop- An obnoxious opera fan who keeps showing up at the wrong moment
