VisitMartinsville Launches New Interactive Map

The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation’s (EDC) Tourism & Film Division has launched a new navigational tool that will aid visitors and residents in exploring area amenities.

By accessing the map on the Tourism Division’s website, www.VisitMartinsville.com, users will be able to quickly find local travel-related information. Currently the map features 197 tourism-related points of interest in Martinsville-Henry County, including lodging, dining, shopping and attractions. Additional locations will be added to the map on an ongoing basis.

Using the interactive features, users will choose a category (outdoor recreation, arts and culture, etc.) and the related locations will appear on the map. Clicking on the location will display contact information, a description, photo, driving directions and links to the business’ website and social media.

Another feature is the ability to zoom in and pan around the map for specific localities within our area. Thanks to a partnership with the Smith River Small Towns Collaborative, the Bassett and Fieldale communities have enhanced capabilities.

The benefits of having an interactive map are immense. In addition to being user-friendly, the map will also be a convenience to travelers on the go as it is compatible on PC, tablets and smart phone devices.

According to Jennifer Doss, Director of Tourism for Martinsville-Henry County, “We are pleased to offer this technology in our community to increase area tourism revenue and enhance future economic development opportunities. The map is a wonderful resource that can be used not only in the hospitality industry but also by realtors and industry recruiters.”

Area businesses are encouraged to check their listings to ensure all information is correct. Edits and suggested new locations can be sent via email to Tourism@YesMartinsville.com.
