25th Annual Martinsville Speedway Toy Drive a Success Once Again

Christmas will hopefully be a little more cheerful for many children this year thanks for the success of the 25th annual Toy Drive to benefit Grace Network at Martinsville Speedway.

More than $15,000 and over 500 toys were donated during the event last Friday night.

The toy drive, which benefits Grace Network of Martinsville and Henry County, was held on December 6th at the Speedway. People could donate a new toy or $20 for the opportunity to drive their personal car around the track, or pay $60 to ride with Speedway President Clay Campbell in a two-seater NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series race truck.

“This was another great year for the Toy Drive,” said track President Clay Campbell. “I want to personally thank all the businesses and individuals who made donations to benefit children in our community. We’re just fortunate that we can use the speedway as the location for the drive, but it’s the people and businesses in our community that make this event the success it is each year.

“We had a great time and I want to also thank Ken Schrader for allowing us to use his race truck to help raise a lot of money for Grace Network.”

In addition to the hundreds of individuals who donated, Appalachian Electric Power (AEP), Bassett Furniture and Patrick Henry Community College all made significant contributions to the Toy Drive.
