Falling Into Fun in MHC

Fall is here and there are plenty of fun experiences to be had here in the gorgeous foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. From exciting events, races and festivals, to stunning and picturesque rides and views, fall is a perfect season to visit Martinsville – Henry County. 

Special Events

The 2nd Annual Henry County Fair; happening September 21st through 24th at the Martinsville Speedway, during the same week as the Late Model Stock Car Race! The Fair will feature a variety of exhibits and entertainment.

ValleyStar Credit Union 300 NASCAR Late Model Series race at Martinsville Speedway is the biggest, richest and most prestigious NASCAR Late Model Stock Car race in the country and it will once again run under the lights. The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 regularly sees more than 75 Late Model Stock Car teams from around the country try to make the 40 car field. Saturday, September 24th.

Pop's Farm will be hosting two nights of music for you to enjoy! Crawford & Power w/The Jared Stout Band on Friday, September 30th AND Dangermuffin w/The Wilson Springs Hotel on Saturday, October 1st. Grab your tickets HERE to these great shows ASAP!!  

Martinsville Uptown will present the annual Oktoberfest International Arts and Culture Festival featuring two streets of vendors offering everything from free balloons to fine art, plus lots of kid-friendly activities including inflatable bounce houses and rides. The event will also offer a beer garden selling craft beer, as well as, amazing crafters and talented artisans, this street fair has something for everyone. Saturday, October 1st.

A series of four free Genealogy Classes Bassett Historical Center each Tuesday in the month of October from 10:00am until 12:00noon. The dates will be October 4th, October 11th, October 18th, and October 25th. This series of four classes will be limited to twelve people so call and reserve your spot today at (276) 629-9191.

For Blue Jeans & Bling get dressed up in your favorite blue jeans, add all your bling and join the MHC Historical Society for an evening of food, drinks, and auction fun at the Martinsville – Henry County Heritage Center & Museum. Saturday, October 8th

Celebrate all things fall at Blues, Brews + Stews at the Gravely-Lester Art Garden. Stay toasty by the fire pit while enjoying Brunswick stew, a cash bar with craft beer and wine and live music by Griffin Haley Band. Meal by Hylton's Wood-Cooking Grill included with ticket price. Friday, October 14th. 

Spend a fall weekend filled with art at the Spencer Penn Centre's Fall Fair. Join in at the annual Fall Festival as they take it back to their roots with games and children's activities, vendors, and more! The fun begins at 10 a.m. and will run until 2 p.m. Saturday, October 15th.

Cruise on down to Bassett for the Bassett Hwy 57 Cruise In. This will be the last cruise in of the 2022 season and it is an event you don't want to miss. All makes and models welcome! Free Admission. Saturday, October 15th.

The 8th annual Wine by the River Wine Festival at the Monogram Foods Smith River Sports Complex will offer an afternoon of relaxing, shopping and entertainment. The event will be held rain or shine. Come enjoy food and artisan vendors, live music, various wineries, and multiple beer distributors. Saturday, October 22nd.

Join in on the fun of the 25th Annual Great Goblin Gallop presented by Henry County Parks & Recreation. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume. Saturday, October 22nd.

Purple Honey Farms Fall Craft Fair will be held Saturday, October 22nd. Come check out flowers, furniture, pottery, crafts, and artisans of all kinds!

NASCAR rolls back in town on Thursday, October 27th for the Virginia Is For Racing Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway. The Cup Series drivers are hoping for treats and not tricks during the short-track event in the Race for the Chase. 

The NASCAR Xfinity Series rolls back into Martinsville Speedway for another thrilling playoff race with the best in the sport. Don't miss the Dead On Tools 250 on Saturday, October 29th.

The NASCAR Cup Series Xfinity 500 showcases an exciting short-track race like you've never seen before. Tempers will flare and excitement will mount as drivers try to conquer the notorious paperclip that is the Martinsville Speedway. Sunday, October 30th. NASCAR + Halloween Weekend= FUN in Martinsville.

Plus, you can also visit the Mayo River Corn Maze any Saturday and Sunday in October!
