First-ever Space Festival is Saturday, June 16

The Virginia Museum of Natural History has teamed-up with NASA to present the museum's first-ever Space Festival, featuring a wide variety of items NASA uses to study space travel, as well as actual objects that astronauts have used during their journeys into the final frontier! Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.!

• Marvel over NASA artifacts that astronauts have used in actual space expeditions, including a variety of tools, mechanical equipment, and clothing!

• Venture inside a 16-foot high, 20-foot wide, 12-foot deep inflatable replica of a moon habitat that NASA is considering for astronauts to live in during extended travel to the moon...or even Mars! These structures would enable astronauts to replicate Earth’s atmosphere and protect them from extreme temperatures, radiation, and small rocks flying through space at very high speeds! (The replica inflatable moon habitat is based off of the actual moon habitat that is currently at NASA Langley, as seen in the above picture.)

• View material that originated from space!

• Participate in a variety of space and astronomy themed games, crafts and activities all day long!
