Galentine's Getaway to Martinsville-Henry County

Valentine's Day is drawing near, and if you are looking for a road trip idea for you and your bff’s, then look no further than Martinsville-Henry County! Explore galleries, play a few games, take a gamble, and simply relax on a galentine’s getaway.

Friday
Start off your weekend of fun by checking into the gorgeous One Starling B & B when you get into town. Once you’re settled, stroll on down to Piedmont Arts and enjoy the stunning exhibits on display. Piedmont Arts is an award-winning art museum that curates thought-provoking exhibitions by international, national and regional artists. Stop by their Gravely-Lester Art Garden on your way back to the b & b and admire the multiple sculptures, the Remarkable Tree of Virginia, and the Little Post Office.
Next, enjoy an Italian dinner at Rania’s Italian Restaurant  in Uptown Martinsville. After dinner, get ready for a different experience at Rosie’s Game Room. There, you and your bff’s can enjoy a variety of (electronic) casino-style games and a drink from their full bar.

Saturday
After a relaxing sleep, enjoy your breakfast in the formal dining room, and then make your way over to Uptown Martinsville. Grab a coffee or latte at The Ground Floor or Daily Grind for that extra kickstart and head to Studio 107. Watch the artists at work and browse the studio shop for original works of art and gifts. Then get ready for a little nostalgic fun just down the street at Uptown Pinball. This arcade is filled with hundreds of games and pinball machines that will bring out your inner-child. After a few hours of arcade fun, pop on over to Hugo’s for lunch. Hugo’s’ menu offers something for everyone, from their classic Steak & Cheese to their Indian Curry Chicken, your options are endless. After lunch, stop by The Boutique Uptown and shop for your next look! Be sure to snap that perfect group selfie at the Big Chair across the street! Then, mosey over to Main Street to browse the antique and vintage shops including Fido’s Finds & Kitties Kollectibles, Junk and Disorderly, and Pieces from the Past. Finally, refuel after the busy day of shopping and playing, with a delicious dinner at Chopstix. You'll love their authentic sushi, hibachi, and teriyaki dishes.

Sunday
Start your Sunday with a traditional southern-style breakfast at Clarence's Steak & Seafood House in Ridgeway. While you are there, be sure to check out the official Martinsville Speedway trophy on display in the restaurant. Afterall, Clarence’s is a tradition within the NASCAR circuit! Then, get ready to burn off some of those breakfast calories by enjoying a beautiful stroll along the Dick & Willie Trail. Start at the Smith River Sports Complex entrance, and embrace the tranquility of the flowing water as you walk alongside the Smith River. Then wrap up your afternoon with a visit to Hamlet Vineyards in Bassett. This family-owned winery has complied several award-winning wines that are available to try during weekly wine tastings. Wine tastings, with or without lunch, at Hamlet Vineyards make for a lovely Sunday afternoon.
