Infinity Acres Ranch to host 5th Annual Spring Carnival June 1, 2019

Infinity Acres Ranch will open to the community on June 1 for its annual Spring Carnival event - a family fun day for all to enjoy.

Visitors will appreciate a special animal encounter while supporting a great local organization by attending the fifth annual Spring Carnival Fundraiser at Infinity Acres Ranch, located at 136 Joppa Road in Ridgeway, Va., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can even walk a llama through an obstacle course and win a prize!

"New attractions are added each year,” said Laura Steere, executive director of Infinity Acres Ranch. “This year, there will be an owl presentation at 12 p.m. and a kangaroo/wallaby presentation at 1 pm. Families are welcome to spend the day with us and learn more about the wonderful programs for children, families and organizations, as well as adults with disabilities that are offered at the ranch.”

Admission is $2 per person and includes a petting animal area, vendors, exhibits and entertainment, like HulaHoop dancing, plus music by Pirates of the Piedmont, followed by an open mic session. An additional $2 will get Old Fashioned Hay Wagon Rides offered each hour. Anyone who presents a Magellan Insurance Card at the gate will receive free admission to the carnival.

For just $5, kids’ activity wristbands are available with prizes and include access to the “Dunk a Doc” booth, face painting, corn hole, and walk a llama and more. New this year are hay wagon rides for $2. The Piggy Train from Spencer Penn Centre will also return - free with child wristbands.

Food and delicious baked goods are available for sale at the concession booth, hosted by the Llama 4-H Club to help support their competitions. The Ruritan Club of Irisburg will be selling quarts of homemade Turkey Chili too!

Co-founder Rick Steere said, "This is a rain or shine event (but not thunderstorms – and we’re hoping for shine.) This year’s event is even bigger and better than last year, and we hope the community will come out and support Infinity Acres Ranch. We want everyone to know about our school tours, Animal Adventure Camp, Family Ranch Experiences, intern and community service opportunities and the ENABLE (Enriching Nurturing Animal Based Learning Experiences) program.” Friends of Infinity Acres Ranch offers Animal-Assisted Learning for all.

Sponsors of the programs of Infinity Acres Ranch are Drs Jones & DeShon Orthodontist, Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia - Martinsville (formerly Martinsville Area Community Foundation), AmeriCorps, Stanleytown Family Foundation and Morningstar Foundation. New this year, Infinity Acres Ranch welcome the Magellan Insurance Company.

A variety of vendors will be at the carnival, ranging from homemade crafts like soap and pottery, Birdhouses and WoodCrafts, Hand-sewn items to Llama Personalized crafts, Paparazzi, 31 BAGS and more. This year the Virginia Museum of Natural History will also be present with an interesting exhibit.

“This carnival helps to bring the community together in a positive way and to showcase area resources,” Laura Steere said.
She added that the Infinity Acres team feels that this is a great way to welcome the public to Infinity Acres Ranch so they can learn about all the educational, volunteer and animal opportunities offered at the Ranch.

“The carnival is something to look forward to each year! It’s always a great way to meet neighbors, do something unusual, and to love on some sweet and exotic animals." Laura Steere said. “We’ll have so much for the community to do – animals, vendors, games with prizes and a variety of vendors. And of course, an old fashioned Hay Wagon Ride is always a good time!”
She said she is looking for vendors to participate in the carnival. To find out more information or to register as a vendor for the carnival, call (276) 358-2378 or email infinityacresva@gmail.com.
