Martinsville Uptown TGIF Hosts West Street Band

Since 2005, West Street Band has consistently been one of Raleigh's top party bands, playing hit Motown, Rock, R&B, and Funk dance songs from every decade. With a history of showcasing some of the finest musicians in the area, plus a great song selection, this band's dedication to entertainment can be seen in every performance.

West Street Band consists of Mike Forgione on lead guitar and vocals, Leon "LB" Bellamy on bass and vocals, Martinsville native Kenni Hairston on keyboard and vocals, and William "Ty" Edwards on drums. Martinsville Uptown is pleased to welcome Kenni back for his second appearance on the TGIF stage. He performed last year with Johnny White and the Elite Band. Kenni has been in the music industry for decades, and has written songs for such legendary talents as Cyndi Lauper and Vanessa Williams.

 TGIF is hosted by Martinsville Uptown and will be held at the Uptown Farmers' Market from 7:00pm to 10:30 pm. Admission to the concert is $5, and children 12 and under accompanied by an adult will be admitted free. Please no pets, skateboards, skates, or bikes allowed due to insurance liability. Bring your lawn chairs, and join us for an evening Uptown.

Local sponsors of the TGIF concerts make it possible for Martinsville Uptown to continue this popular event for the community. The season sponsors for TGIF are Coors Light, Smirnoff Ice, Pepsi Beverages Company, and Subway. Thanks to our June event sponsors-Hairston Home for Adults, Inc., National College, SPCA, and Amedisys Home Health Care.

Martinsville Uptown will sell Coors & Smirnoff Ice products. The food sponsor will be Ernie's Tailgate Grill. They will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, specialty sandwiches, and drinks. So make sure to come thirsty and hungry! There is also a jumpy castle provided as entertainment for the kids!

Martinsville Uptown coordinates the outdoor concerts to supplement their funding for the organization's revitalization efforts for Uptown Martinsville. The event began in 1994 as a way to attract more people to the Uptown area. If you are looking for a place that the whole family can have a great time, then TGIF at the Uptown Farmers' Market is the place, one Friday night a month from April through September. The remaining schedule is as follows-Paradox on July 27th, 58 West on August 24th, and Stone Canyon on September 14th.
