Meet the Martinsville PD Bike Cops!

Join the Martinsville Police Department to meet their new Bike Cops, COP Officer Coretha Gravely, and possibly their new K-9 Unit!

Martinsville bike cops are looking forward to meeting residents this coming Tuesday, April 7th from 2pm – 3pm at Fayette & Moss Street pocket park for the department's first Community Meet & Greet.

"Meet & Greets gives neighbors an opportunity to meet with officers in a comfortable, casual setting, share thoughts, ask questions and just get to know each other. When neighbors get to know officers we know that makes for safer, friendlier communities. We also want to create opportunities for us to meet people, answer questions and learn about potential issues so we can work together to solve and prevent problems. That's what Community Policing is all about and the Martinsville Police Department is all about Community Policing," said Chief Sean Dunn.

Holding the first Community Meet and Greet on Fayette St. just down the street from the recently opened bike shop, Chain of Fools, is part of the city’s larger initiative to increase economic activity and create a more vibrant and connected community.

"I think people will really appreciate the opportunity to meet our officers.  Deputy Chief Cassady, Captain Fincher and our new K-9 Officers will hopefully join me and our Bike Unit.  We hope citizens make it a point to stop by.  We plan to hold these get-togethers all over the city, from time to time, although the next event the Bike Unit plans to hold will likely be a “Ride with Police” on the Dick & Willie Trail," said Chief Dunn.
