Online Tickets Available for Rives Theatre

Arts at the Rives Theatre (ART), a non-profit organization that operates the historic Rives Theatre in uptown Martinsville, will offer online ticket sales through www.brownpapertickets.com this year.

The online ticket outlet will make it easier for music fans to purchase advanced tickets to concerts and events at the theatre. Physical tickets will still be sold in advance at Studio 107 in uptown Martinsville and at Woodall's Music & Sound in Collinsville.

"We've been looking for an online ticket outlet for some time now, and Brown Paper Tickets is a great fit" said ART President Dean Johnston. "This will be especially beneficial for our out-of-town guests who drive in from places such as Roanoke and Greensboro for concerts at the Rives."

Brown Paper Tickets charges a $1 service fee, plus 3.5% of the ticket's face value, for online will-call purchases. Ticket buyers also will have the option to get their tickets mailed to them prior to the show date. Under the current setup, an $8 will-call ticket would cost a total of roughly $9.30 online.

ART has already announced its season-opening kickoff party, which will feature progressive bluegrass legend John Cowan, performing as the John Cowan Trio. Music fans can purchase a $125 season pass that will cover entry to the John Cowan Trio concert on Feb. 9, as well as ART's 10 series concerts over the course of 2013. Stand alone tickets for the John Cowan Trio concert will cost $50.

All patrons attending the Cowan concert will receive a dinner from Ratatouille Catering at the show. ART plans to announce five more spring concerts in the coming days. The theatre's fall shows are currently being booked. For more information, visit www.rivestheatre.com.
