Places for "Best of" Winners Announced

Martinsville-Henry County, Virginia has a lot to offer for both residents and visitors. A low-cost of living and short commute paired with high quality-of-life amenities and central location make our community a perfect place to live, work and play.

The EDC’s Tourism Division recently announced that 32 area businesses and organizations were selected as winners in Virginia Living magazine’s 2013 “Best of” Virginia Contest. The local businesses won a total of 44 awards. The issue is now on newsstands and places for each award have finally been revealed.

Area businesses won a total of 18 first-place awards and the honor of being named the best of Southwest Virginia for their respective categories. Martinsville-Henry County businesses were up against competitors in localities such as Roanoke, Christiansburg, Abingdon, Bristol and Smith Mountain Lake.

According to Jennifer Doss, Director of Tourism, “These honors are something for our residents to really be proud of. They are a terrific recruitment tool for potential businesses and professionals because it showcases our area’s high quality-of-life.”

King’s Grant – Best Retirement Community

Lou Harris, Lou Harris Inc. – Best Interior Designer

Mark A. Crabtree, D.D.S., Martinsville Smiles, PLLC – Best Dentist

Pieces Boutique – Best Women’s Clothing Store

Ratatouille Catering – Best Caterer
