Team #VisitMartinsville Enjoyed a Super Fun Run
Miles in Martinsville hosted the annual Super Fun Run around Lake Lanier on Saturday, May 8th and the girls of Team #VisitMartinsville had a blast! The superhero-themed event offered two races to choose from; a 5K and an 8K option and participants were encouraged to dress up in the favorite super hero ensembles. Batmen, Supermen, Batgirls, Wonder Women and other greats were seen amongst the course, having a blast in Martinsville. The Super Run was the spring event for the local Miles in Martinsville YOUTH in MOTION program - a program designed to inspire young girls & boys to be joyful, healthy and confident by integrating running into their lives.
For Beth (aka Wonder Woman), this was her first 8K race and Kelly chose the 5k virtual option.
Kelly finished with a time of 52:27 virtually. Beth finished with a time of 55:05 and taking 1st place for her age group.
How does it feel to have completed your first 8K?
Beth: Incredible! I am inspired to keep pushing and training for even longer runs.
How did you sign up for a virtual option?
Kelly: Some of the races offer a virtual option. This worked perfect me to still be able to participate in the race since my schedule did not allow me to attend on race day. Be sure to check during the registration process if the race of interest for you offers a virtual option!
How do you think you will do in the Uptown Martinsville Mile?
Beth: Decent, but I definitely won’t be breaking any speed records! I’ve been focused on endurance for the most part of my training, not really speed, so I will definitely have to shift focus to get my time down. Right now, my pace is right at 10 minutes.
The next race for the Team #VisitMartinsville duo will be the Uptown Martinsville Mile on August 14th and registration is open at www.MilesinMartinsville.com! It’s not too late to get registered for the Uptown Martinsville mile or the remaining Miles in Martinsville season! Head over to MilesinMartinsville.com for all the details. Remember to say hey to #Team VisitMartinsville out there on the course and be sure to tag your event pictures with #VisitMartinsville!
