The Artisan Center Launches New Website Using Tourism Grant

The Martinsville-Henry County EDC's Tourism & Film Division and The Artisan Center, a program of Patrick Henry Community College, are pleased to announce the launch of a new website promoting The Artisan Center's Classes and items available for purchase from regional artisans. 

The Artisan Center applied for a Tourism Marketing Grant from the EDC to acquire matching funds for the development of a new professional website. The grant program funds 50% of approved marketing project costs up to $1,000.

The site, TheArtisanCenter.org, which was developed locally by HD Web Studio, features an eye-catching color scheme of lime green, magenta, purple and turquoise along with their new logo. In addition to learning about classes offered, customers around the world are able browse the retail shop's inventory and search by artist and medium for the perfect gift or home décor. This is the second website HD Web Studio has completed for The Artisan Center. Beth Deatherage of HD Web Studio commented that, "Redesign is a big decision for an organization or company, but a refreshed look can make a meaningful impact on sales and site traffic."

According to Jennifer Doss, Director of Tourism for Martinsville-Henry County, "This updated website enables the public to easily shop for locally made art 24/7 from anywhere in the world. It is a perfect way to showcase the amazing talent that we have right here in our community."

The public is invited to come in to The Artisan Center at 54 West Church Street or shop online at TheArtisanCenter.org to help support the many skilled craftspeople and artisans in Martinsville-Henry County and the surrounding region.

"We are grateful to have received marketing assistance funds from the EDC" said Kara Carter-Hundley, The Artisan Center's Program Coordinator. "Without these funds a new website would not have been possible and our website plays a vital role in our efforts to reach prospective buyers and students."
