Turn 5 Concert Series

Country stars John Anderson and Jaida Dreyer will perform as part of a two-night "Turn 5 Concert" event near Martinsville Speedway on race weekend, Oct. 26-27.

Organized by producers of the Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival, the "Turn 5 Concerts" will raise money for the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, the Sprint Cup pole winner's charity of choice and Carlisle School. The two-night event, which will take place on Clover Road property adjacent to the speedway's campground entrance, was made possible through the generous support of more than a dozen area businesses.

"We are thrilled that so many people in our community are pulling together to put on this concert, and we are behind it 100 percent. Anything that helps entertain our fans while they are in town is wonderful," said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. "Not only is the music going to be good, the location is perfect. It's just steps away from our campground entrance, so it will be easy for our fans to find."

Anderson, who's recorded five No. 1 Billboard hits, including "Money in the Bank," and "Swingin,'" will headline the Oct. 26th show. Martinsville favorites Fatz and Broken Glass will open the concert, which starts at 5 p.m.

Rising country star Jaida Dryer, who recently made her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage, will headline the Saturday night show. Rebel Guns will open for Dryer, and a second local band may be added to Saturday's lineup. Music will begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 27.

Single-day tickets will cost $10 each, and tickets for both nights will be just $15 in advance. Tickets can be currently purchased at www.roosterwalk.com. They will also be available at participating Taco Bell stores, as well as other local outlets, in the near future.
Special parking areas, located within a short walk of the venue, will be reserved for music fans who drive to the show.

"Not only will these concerts provide another great entertainment option for race fans, they will raise money for some very worthy causes. Fifty percent of concert proceeds will be donated to the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, which provides a network of community-based services designed to help Virginia veterans and their families overcome the challenges of stress-related and traumatic brain injuries. Twenty-five percent of proceeds will go to the pole winner's charity of choice, while 25 percent will go to Carlisle School, which typically parks cars on the property as a fundraiser for the school.

The Rooster Walk Music and Arts Festival takes place over Memorial Day weekend at Blue Mountain Festival Grounds near Martinsville. The festival was created in memory of two Martinsville natives who passed away while still in their 20s - Edwin "the Rooster" Penn and Walker Shank. In four years, the festival has raised $20,000 for the Penn-Shank Memorial Scholarship Fund at Martinsville High School.
